the Hentchmen with Jack White - Hentch-ForthFive

A first-time-on-CD reissue of the 1998 Hentch-Forth album from Detroit garage rockers THE HENTCHMEN along with friend and compadre JACK WHITE (THE WHITE STRIPES). Originally released the same day as the second White Stripes 7-inch (both records on Italy), the album's nine tracks have been remixed and digitally remastered to sound as the band and Jack had originally intended. Also included are all four songs from the Ham And Oil instrumental 7-inch, and one previously unheard gem.
Hentch-Forth.Five is a great opportunity for fans to check out the first baby steps of Jack White, who will inevitably—and hopefully—go on to become one of contemporary music’s major forces. It’s also a reminder of what a great, collaborative community the Detroit rock scene used to be and, unfortunately, the sad state in which it now exists. Even Jack White has fled his beloved hometown for Nashville. Places like the Magic Stick used to be a playground of band-swapping and shows, now it’s a place where Jack White gets in fist fights with former collaborators and fellow Detroit lead singers. So maybe this remastered anniversary release is warranted after all; a lot sure does change in 15 years.

The Popsters put a ton of heart into their music and bring a much needed freshness to the pop punk sound. The Bruisers - - The Authorized Bruisers 1988-1994

The year was 1988 and vocalist Al Barr and Scotty Davies, the bands first bass player started what would become one of Americas longest running and most widely known Street Punk bands. Over the years the band has released a ton of records, E.P.'s and albums and have had too many line up changes to mention. In 1997 the band teamed up with Cyclone Records and released the very succesful "Molotov" CD. With this disc The Bruisers were back on the map once again as they recaptured the energy, style, and spirit found on their earlier material. The band decided to have Cyclone re-issue their past material in the form of the "Anything You Want...." Retrospective CD. This disc re-introduced the bands out of print back catalog to a ton of new Punk fans. This collection was released in March 1998 and then in July 1998, a full decade after they started playing, The Bruisers decided to call it quits as a band and front man Al Barr joined Dropkick Murphys.
The authorized Bruisers collection featuring 28 songs from 1988 - 1994. This disc is a re-issue of the bands debut album "Cruisin For A Bruisin", their 1991 cassette only release "Independence Day" and the very rare and highly sought after "American Night", "Gates Of Hell", "Intimidation", & "Cloberrin Time" seven inches. It also includes a full color 8 page booklet with liner notes by Bruiser front man Al Barr and artwork from each origional release. This was one of the most influential American Street Punk bands of all time and this disc documents almost a decade of Punk Rock History from this veteran band.

Böhse Onkelz - Der Nette Mann

Böhse Onkelz started out in November 1980 in Hösbach as a punk rock band heavily inspired by bands such as Sex Pistols and the Ramones by Stephan Weidner, Kevin Richard Russell and Peter Schorowsky. The name is an incorrect spelling of "bad uncles" (the correct form would be böse Onkel), which is German baby talk for bad grown-ups. According to Weidner on their DVD release "20 Jahre: Live in Frankfurt", the name was created when the three founding members stole a sledge from some other teenagers, one of whom said "Hey, da sind die bösen Onkels schon wieder" (Hey, there come the bad uncles again). The band kept its initial line-up until Matthias 'Gonzo' Röhr joined them in 1981. Musically he was by far the most experienced of the group; he had been playing guitar for six years, and had played in other bands such as Antikörper. Since Weidner played guitar, Matthias started out on bass, but they switched instruments before their first recordings for the punk sampler Soundtracks zum Untergang 2. Initially, the band was active mainly in the region of Frankfurt am Main. Soundtracks zum Untergang 2 (Soundtracks to the Downfall Vol. 2) was a left-wing oriented punk sampler on which Böhse Onkelz featured in the band's first widely released recording. However, after the until then apolitical punk movement moved further to the left, the Onkelz lost interest in this subculture. "Fußball" became more important in their lives and with it, fights surrounding games accumulated.
Initially, the band considered themselves part of the (originally unpolitical) Oi! movement, but they underwent their first drift to the political right in the early 1980s. The gigs and demos that had been released until then appealed to their fans, who ranged from unpolitical to the extreme right. The release of the album Der nette Mann followed in 1984 on the right-wing rock label Rock-O-Rama. This album was indexed in September 1986 because of its violence-glorifying and sexist content. The album also contained the patriotic songs Stolz (Proud) and Deutschland (Germany), by which the Onkelz slowly gained cult status in the right-wing scene. Der nette Mann was copied numerous times to cassettes and thereby spread rapidly in the scene. Shortly after the release of the Mexico EP in late 1985 the band split with Rock-O-Rama.
After their split from the skinhead scene in 1986, the band proceeded without any distinguishable political motivation. The albums following also contained songs about drinking and violence, but were much richer musically and lyrically. Despite substantial problems caused by Russell's alcohol and heroin addictions, the band continued to work together. On the 16th of June, 1990, the band's best common friend, Andreas "Trimmi" Trimborn, was stabbed to death during an incident in a bar located in Frankfurt's Sachsenhausen district. Only two days later Böse Onkelz supporters located the assailant, a "Bundeswehr" soldier whose father held a high military rank. The murderer was tried in court but released without sentence. The judge stated that the Böhse Onkelz band and entourage were known to be violent and that the stabbing was committed in self-defense. Even today, all witnesses sharply reject this claim that Trimmi threatened the killer and his companion, both of whom allegedly snorted cocaine just minutes before the incident, with a beer mug. Russell fell into a severe depression over the loss of his friend and tried to compensate his grief with drugs and alcohol. His substance abuse habits became so destructive that he almost died as a result. The songs Nur die besten sterben jung (Only the best die young) and Der Platz neben mir (The place beside me) are dedicated to and written in memory of Trimmi.

In 1992, without any marketing, the album Heilige Lieder rose to no. 5 on the German LP charts. Despite their increasing commercial success, the band was marked with the stigma of being a right-wing band till the end. During various xenophobia-related attacks, the media discovered the right-wing past of the band. Following some critical reports, the Onkelz were faced with substantial criticism, which among other things led to individual radio stations refusing to play Onkelz songs. Many outside observers simply didn't believe that the band had "seen the light" and instead considered their exit from the skinhead scene as a maneuver to avoid bans and prosecution. The band's reputation also suffered from several poorly researched articles written about them. As a reaction to this, Weidner wrote songs like Fahrt zur Hölle (Go To Hell) on Weiß or Danke für Nichts (Thanks for Nothing) on Hier sind die Onkelz (Here are the Unclez). Additionally, big department stores such as Media Markt, World of Music (WOM) and Saturn refused to sell Onkelz albums. By the end of the 1990s, however, Media Markt and WOM took the albums back into their range of products. Only Saturn refused to sell them until the band's final album Adios in 2005 which, along with others of their later albums, was on top of the charts for several weeks. In the following years, the Onkelz repeatedly took positions against extremism of any kind and referred to themselves as outsiders with no political affiliation. The band has a huge fan community and is one of the most successful German music groups. In 1998 they sold about 300,000 copies of the album Viva los tioz within the first 48 hours after release. On 8 August 2003, despite negative headlines, the Böhse Onkelz were chosen as supporting act to the Rolling Stones for their concert in the Open Air Arena in the Hanover fairground.
The end of their career
When the band's five year contract with Virgin ended in 2003, they found a new selling partner in the indie label SPV GmbH for their final album, Adios. On 24 May 2004 the Onkelz officially announced their retreat from the active music business. After the release of the album, a gig on the Wacken Open Air in August 2004 and the sold-out tour La Ultima, the farewell show took place on 17th and 18th June 2005 at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz (in Lusatia, Brandenburg) under the name Vaya con tioz, to which approximately 120,000 fans came.

Böhse Onkelz - E.I.N.S.

The ’96 tour with 120,000 concertgoers was a very successful tour and owed much of its success to the album “E.I.N.S.”. E.I.N.S., the Onkelz’ twelfth studio album, was released with the Virgin label in the autumn of 1996 and climbed to number 3 in the Media Control Top 100. The idea behind the album was the Böhse Onkelz’ desire to send their fans the message that they were just as connected with the phenomenon Böhse Onkelz as the band itself. Underlying this release was the idea that everyone was “united” or “one”, fans and band, which is expressed in many of the new texts. The cover photo, a computer-generated morph composed of Kevin’s ear, Pe’s nose, Gonzo’s eye, and Stephan’s mouth, supported this idea visually. This design was also used as the backdrop for the sold-out ’96 tour and made dramatic stage scenery. The sound and lighting technology during this tour were state-of-the-art and impressed fans and media alike. The texts and music of E.I.N.S. were considered absolute masterpieces, an opinion shared by many good critics in the trade magazines. Like its predecessor “Hier sind die Onkelz”, E.I.N.S. is a collection of hardcore rock songs and catchy ballads. With the title “Ihr sollt den Tag nicht vor dem Abend loben” (You shouldn’t praise the day before the evening), the Böhse Onkelz were responding to attacks from die Toten Hosen and die Ärzte, who never missed a chance to speak out against the Onkelz in the media. In their characteristic manner, the Onkelz refused to be provoked into doing the same by defending themselves against the accusations in interviews. Instead they responded with a song. As expected, the media pounced on the song and immediately declared a Onkelz versus Hosen and Ärzte war, which was certainly not the band’s intention. So, in the end, the war went no further than this song, and later statements from Campino in the press showed that the message had hit home. The Hosen immediately withdrew their criticism. Many fans listened to both the Onkelz and the Hosen. Once or twice, fans wearing an Onkelz shirt were not allowed into a Hosen concert. Even today, a deep schism exists between the members of both bands.

Böhse Onkelz - Dopamin

Dopamin, the Böhse Onkelz’ fifteenth album was recorded in 2001 and 2002. It is considered the band’s most mature and international work. From the earliest recordings on Ibiza, studio mixes in Frankfurt, song texts written in Ireland, to the final recordings in the legendary London Abbey Road Studios, Dopamin exudes a remarkably positive energy. After 22 years, the Böhse Onkelz reached the height of their career with Dopamin. The musical arrangements and Stephan Weidner’s work as producer make Dopamin a well-rounded and mature work. For the first time and after a rousing chart entry, this album held the number 1 spot on the Media Control Top 100 Album Charts for two weeks. It should be noted that after Dopamin’s release, even large department store chains like WOM started selling the entire post-1986 repertoire of Onkelz albums, breaking a prolonged and vehemently declared boycott. While the Onkelz proved to be an economic factor that could not be ignored in the music industry, the press blundered on as blindly and ignorantly as ever. Tour 2002, which accompanied the album, was one of the most successful Onkelz tours ever with 200,000 sold tickets and 28 shows with a sold-out capacity of over 90%. The Onkelz hit the Top 5 in the Austrian charts for the first time and played their debut gig in Zurich, Switzerland. Cover stories in relevant music magazines celebrated the Frankfurt band as the German rock band of the year while the Onkelz themselves continued to cold shoulder the media and refused to let any journalists from the daily press into their concerts.

Böhse Onkelz - Adios

When the title of the new album “Adios” was announced to fans in mid-2004, the Onkelz also owed their fans an explanation of why this would be their last studio album. The band issued a statement to this effect on their homepage. The songs for the album were written in Ibiza/Spain, as was its predecessor “Dopamin.” The Onkelz wanted to deliver another really rocking album as farewell, without focusing too much on the band’s breakup. Instead they concentrated more on catchy, fast rock’n’roll with loud, autobiographical texts and hard riffs. Stephan Weidner, as usual, wrote the lyrics to “Adioz” in his secluded house in Ireland. Together with Cuban artist Pozo, who designed the artwork for the single and the album, the band also produced a video clip for the song “Onkelz vs. Jesus” and a “Making of…,” which were placed on the album as a DVD track. In addition to the elaborate 5:1 sound, meanwhile a standard feature of Onkelz productions, the album comes with an animated booklet featuring visuals specially designed by Pozo for each song. The album shot straight to number one on the Media Control Charts Top 100 Longplay and remained there for three weeks. By the time the sold-out Onkelz tour started, the album had gone platinum with over 200,000 copies sold.

Guitar Gangsters - Made in England - Live in Europe

Formed in 1989 from the ashes of The Untouchables, this London three piece sought a return to the powerful guitar based rock'n'roll that inspired them to first pick up their instruments in the late seventies. Influenced by The Jam, The Ruts, Ramones and of course the Pistols the Guitar Gangsters produced a debut album of melodic power punk gems that made "Prohibition" a sort after release. This, together with tracks on Link Records' "Underground Rockers" compilation album (Manic Street Preachers, Senseless Things and Mega City Four were also featured) brought the band to the attention of Stiff Little Fingers who invited the Gangsters as guests on the Fingers' comeback UK tour. 1992 saw the release of the Guitar Gangsters' second album "Money With Menaces" on Communique Records and the band continue to gig throughout the UK. Occasional airplays on evening Radio One created a buzz about the band but a reluctance by the Gangsters to soften their musical style discouraged major label interest. Another one album deal was done - this time with Anagram, a division of Cherry Red and "Power Chords For England" was recorded and released on CD in 1994
In 1995 the Guitar Gangsters began to discover European audiences and toured with 999, The Lurkers, Vibrators and others and recorded "Skweeler!" for release on the band's own Rampant Music label. Recognising the new European interest in the band, Captain Oi! Records have released a double CD of the first two albums that had been unavailable since 1994. A live album recorded in Germany and Poland in 1998, "Made In England - Live In Europe" was released early in 1999 on the Rampant label. The band were out touring Europe again in 2000 with Vice Squad and in July of that year the UK streetpunk label Captain Oi! released the Gangsters' first studio album since "Skweeler!" -"Road To Reality" pulling together songs written over a three year period - the early punk influences were still evident and the band stuck to what they do best and for this they make no apology. Tales of suburbia and failed ambition hung on a wall of guitars played with passion and honesty. In May 2001 the band travelled to Los Angeles as guests of The Generators to play a tour of the West Coast and begin recording for a new album. USA's premier streetpunk label, TKO released a sample track "Safety Pin Through My Heart" from the forthcoming album on a compilation "Punch Drunk III" put out in September 2001. In July of that year Guitar Gangsters joined over 100 other punk bands to celebrate 25 years of punk at Holidays In The Sun festival at Morecombe. In October 2002 Captain Oi! will release the band's 6th studio album titled "Another Day In Pleasantville" and a track from the album titled "Rattle My Cage" can be found on the Captain Oi! sampler out soon.
In August this year the band play a short tour in Germany taking in the ANTIfest near Prague as they go. In November, to promote the release of the new album Guitar Gangsters will be touring the UK and Eastern Europe.

Muzzarelas - - Lotus Rock A.D.

The Muzzarelas started out around March of 1991 out of the desire to play cover songs of their favorite band of all time: The Ramones. Five friends with that in common, rehearsals and concerts in local clubs and bars soon followed, and the band would quickly become notorious for their live performances and unique sense of humor.
With lyrics and artwork absolutely not mainstream, kids could relate to the group’s laid back yet energetic and totally wild attitude, turning each concert into an event not to be missed.
Enough material for an album had been written and exhaustively performed within a year in which the group never stopped playing everywhere they could, winning awards at festivals and thus being able to record their first demo-tapes. The band was invited to be the opening act for bigger acts in the Brazilian underground and alternative scene and later for international acts as well, playing with names such as Ratos de Porao, Marky Ramone, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front, The Queers and Fugazi, among others. Soon the word was out that the Muzzarelas didn’t only impress the local kids, but whoever got the chance to witness their live shows.
Ratos de Porao lead singer JoaoGordo was so genuinely impressed that he managed to get the Muzzarelas their first recording deal, for a compilation called ‘Fun, Milk, and Destroy’ and an album, both of which were produced by Joao Gordo himself. In 1995 their debut album, ‘Jumentor’, became available in Brazil and Europe and paved the way for what has now been over a decade of touring and recording and four albums and dozens of compilations the world over. Their latest studio effort, ‘Lotus Rock A.D’, proved to be their finest work to date, with a straight out mix of punk and metal that fans and critics alike find simply irresistible. The album’s artwork, completely done by the band’s bass player, has earned fame of its own. The band’s lineup has remained practically unaltered through all these years, with temporary replacements only, which guarantees the chemistry that generates their music stays untouched. In a world and a country dominated by disposable music and trends, the Muzzarelas have earned the respect of their fans and other musicians as a true rock band, delivering the goods on their albums and kicking some major butt live. Now it is just a matter of time, until the five cheeses take over the world.

These four dudes from the UK, Dick (vocals, motormouth, idealist, one set of clothes for each tour), Phil (guitar, facial hair, soccer, model for BEAR magazine), Jasper (bass, sweaters, cigarettes, ladies man) and Trotsky (drums, one time proprietor of a worm farm, possibly the only member of the band who can drive a van or bench his weight) have created a blend of punk, ska, and straight up rock'n'roll that appeals to the sing-a-long music fans and even the "muso" musician types that typically dismiss punks as not being able to play their instruments. But it's not so much the fact that these dudes are the most talented musicians in England, it's what they say and how they say it. In a fun loving, all inclusive way, Citizen Fish (and their previous outfits Culture Shock and the legendary Subhumans) have brought working class radical politics to generations of questioning minds. Leaving aside the typical screaming rants of boring political punk bands, the Fish offer a hopeful, danceable alternative. Whereas other bands have fans, admirers, and flavor-of-the-month teenyboppers hoarding to their concerts, Citizen Fish have established an open and always growing family. The idealistic unifying tone of Dick's lyrics, coupled with the catchy driving riffs of the band, allow the Fish to appeal to a wide variety of folks. Heck, they are the only punk band my whole immediate family has seen play live, twice! My mother still partially blames the band for my father's unemployment. After hearing Dick's ranting prelude to "Call in Sick" at a Philly gig, my father burst out applauding and shouting "Yeah now that's a good one! Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" and took another 6 months off. Touring the USA with the Fish is more like a good family vacation than working as a cog in the ugly and never-ending corporate world of rock'n'roll promotions. Roadies Richard, Karoline, Pete, Paula, and the rotating AK Press bookseller roam the halls, dance up a storm, and fill up floors on punk houses ranging from the grimy squat in Etters to the hot tubbed palaces of Los Angeles. Everywhere the Fish goes, a bottle, a smoke, and a friendly conversation is sure to follow. Familiar dancing faces in every town, beers and vegetarian meals, and local activists filling the gig halls with information, ideas, and inspiration for positive change is what Citizen Fish are all about.

Red Alert - Breakin`All The Rules + A Session with the Lads

The group was formed in Sunderland in the North East of England in around May 1979. The original line up was Steve 'Cast Iron' Smith (Vocals), Tony Van Frater (Guitar), Gaz Stuart (Bass) and Dona (Drums).
After a couple of months of rehearsals we played our first gig at a carnival in Sunderland. We did a mixed set of self penned songs and a couple of Clash and UK SUBS songs. We began to play at youth clubs in and around Sunderland on a regular basis. Around this time we recorded our first demo tape. The recording turned out so well that we released it as our first record. It was a four-track E.P entitled 'Third and Final' and as it was self financed we could only afford to press 250 copies, which we sold outside of record shops and at gigs.
After the release of this record Mitch replaced Dona on drums. We continued to gig in the North East of England and recorded the 'In Britain' demo. Shortly after this Mitch was replaced on drums by Nobby. We then recorded another four-track demo. After this we recorded two tracks for the 'Cary On Oi!' album.
We recorded 'SPG' and 'We've Got the Power' but only 'SPG' was used. Then on the advice of Gary Bushell we sent the first E.P and the two demos to No Future records and within a week we had signed our first recording contract.
Over the next two years between 1981-83 we released five separate records. These were:- In Britain E.P (3 tracks) Take No Prisoners E.P (3 tracks) We've Got The Power L.P City Invasion (Single) There's A Guitar Burning 12 inch E.P (6 tracks)
Over this period we began touring all around England (Manchester, Leeds, London etc). There was also a steady stream of appearances on compilation albums. After the 'Guitar Burning' E.P Nobby left the band. At the same time our contract with No Future records had ended. We recruited a new drummer named Matty Forster and recorded some new material with the view to getting a new record deal.
It was not long after this, that things didn't feel right within the band due to family commitments and a basic disillusionment with the Oi! and Punk scene that we felt was dying off, we decided to split the band. more >>>

The Stooges - The Stooges

Iggy Pop (born James Newell Osterberg) played in several Ann Arbor, Michigan-area bands as a teenager, including The Iguanas and later The Prime Movers. The Prime Movers nicknamed Osterberg 'Iggy' in reference to his earlier band. Osterberg was first inspired to form The Stooges after meeting blues drummer Sam Lay during a visit to Chicago. He returned to Detroit with the idea that simply copying established blues performers wasn't enough — he wanted to create a whole new form of blues music. Brothers Ron (guitar) and Scott Asheton (drums), along with their friend Dave Alexander (bass guitar) rounded out the rest of the band, with Osterberg taking vocal duties. The three nicknamed Osterberg "Pop" after a local character whom Osterberg resembled. Shortly after witnessing an MC5 concert in Ann Arbor, Osterberg began using the stage name Iggy Pop, a name that he has used ever since.
The band's debut was at a Halloween concert at the their house in State Street in 1967. They did not play live again until January 1968.[3] During this early period, The Stooges were originally billed as the "Psychedelic Stooges" at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit, Michigan, and other venues, where they played with the MC5 and others. At one of their early Grande Ballroom performances, Asheton's guitar neck separated from the body and forced the band to shut down during the opening song "I Wanna Be Your Dog". The group's early sound was very different from their later music; critic Edwin Pouncey writes,
The Stooges' early musical experiments were more avant garde than punk rock, with Pop incorporating such household objects as a vacuum cleaner and a blender into an intense wall of feedback that one observer described as sounding like "an airplane was landing in the room." Homemade instruments were also incorporated to flesh out the overall sound. The 'Jim-a-phone' involved pushing feedback through a funnel device which was raised and lowered to achieve the best effect. There was also a cheap Hawaiian guitar which Pop and guitarist Ron Asheton would take turns in plucking to produce a simulated sitar drone, while drummer Scott Asheton pounded away at a set of oil drums with a ball hammer.

The Undertones - Get What You Need

Get What You Need is a 2003 studio album by Irish power pop/punk rock band The Undertones. It is the band's first collection of new studio material since their reformation with lead singer Paul McLoone, who replaced the previous singer Feargal Sharkey. Allmusic stated in their review that "It's almost unthinkable, really, that Derry's fabled good-time teen punks of yesteryear would record and continue... let alone that their output would be anything less than embarrassing." The website also stated that "you have everything you need for a complete escape to more innocent, drunken, loutish times with a smile on the faces of everyone in your immediate vicinity" and recommended the album. Uncut Magazine gave a favorable review as well, remarking that its songs "inhabit the same ageless corner of garage band heaven as earlier classics". In contrast, Blender gave it two stars out of five- a 'mediocre'- and stated that "they sound more like a road-toughened bar band".

Mere Dead Men - Stacks, Stilettos, Make-Up & Mohicans

Mere Dead Men formed in 1985, by a handful of people, Mandy included to liven up a small and very sad punk scene. Liverpool and it's surrounding areas where caught up in the throes of the metal and goth movements, there were hardly any punk bands of their type left, yes Pek we know you were busy with the hardcore scene and we have been sadly misquoted on that!!, there were a few hardcore bands around and anarcho bands, but as we said no-one was keeping the original spirit of punk alive, which is what MDM are all about. We began playing locally and promoting gigs at Stairways night club, we then started using some of Mandy's old Iconoclasts contacts, yes Mr Harper, you were a great help and still are, and started playing around the UK. From that we went on to promote shows at Planet X in Liverpool, and started to get a decent following together. Rag joined us on Drums in 1988 and also for a short while we had Hocky from Instant Agony sharing the vocals with Mandy. Ha we entered a talent competition at around this time and boy was it a laugh, we won.....a support slot to the Rock Band Little Angels, that was so funny, the audience didn't know what the hell we were!!!! we also won a day in a recording studio, resulting in our first demo. Richie and Rob have been with us for about 13 years now, Richie coming from local band SO '77 and Rob from Arcoroc, Rob was also in Brum band Drongos for Europe. We have recently been joined by Anton on guitar who was also in the Drongos. We have always been a busy band, obviously over the past few years as we have all got older and had to get jobs, we have slowed the work load down a bit, but we get out and play as often as possible. The band have had several self financed eps etc released and also have 4 albums out,Carry On,Stacks Stilettos Make up and Mohicans,United We Stand and the latest release Lets Do It. The band have played all over the Uk and Europe and continue to win friends wherever they play. WE have a new release out now on psp records. A split CD with Stoke band Impact, so buy it. See PSP myspace site for details. Also if any of you remember Mandys old band The Iconoclasts ( all girl punk band), well we have just found some live footage in fact the only live footage we have ever seen of them. Its on A dvd called "The day the Country Died" and its on cherry red records. Its a history of anarcho punk, and its really good, theres bands on there that even we had forgotten about!

The Hentchmen - Campus Party

The Hentchmen are a top-notch Rock n' Roll combo from Detroit, Michigan. Their origin dates back to October 1992, when founding members John and Tim, bored with commercial radio, set out to play stripped down, primitive Rock n' Roll. Using the same blunt and essential instruments (organ, guitar and minimal drum kit) as their Sixties Garage/Punk heroes, the boys rebirthed a savage "hit and run" sound that would soon prove to drive the young-at-heart into a feeding frenzy. With their youthful good looks (cited in the "Cute Bands Alert '97" in Seventeen magazine), and clean-cut charm, these able youngsters were soon invited to play several parties and functions as the Hentchmen. Within the first year they had an explosive reputation and a solid fan base in both Detroit and Ann Arbor. In this time, the fellows released their first self-titled and produced seven-inch record. This effort led to a recording contract with Norton Records in New York and landed them many other indie seven-inch agreements. With all the local excitement, the Hentchmen were playing many shows in the Detroit area but decided to tour nationally. These cross-country, short-notice tours are what the gents are best known for as they have been from coast to coast several times.
In early 1996 after two full-length albums and half a dozen singles, John and Tim added Mike, former member of the Marquette Book Club, to payroll as their new drummer. Maintaining their reputation as one of Detroit's most prolific bands, the boys tightened up the "Hentch sound" and recorded their junior effort, "Broad Appeal". The Hentchmen divide their time between brushing up on foreign language skills and preparing a new batches of hits. They have toured Europe several times, and have criss crossed the nation.Although the Hentchmen will deny any professional affiliation with the future Detroit legend, Jack "Whitey" White, the local social mag, "Sceen Beat" has spotted both parties hangin' out together at several Detroit hotspots recently. This strongly supports rumors that White has been lending his "talents" on sessions for an Italy Records' mini-LP, titled "Gawker Delay". Along with the mini-LP, a more satiating Norton full-length, called "Motorvatin'" will hopefully re-ignite "Hentch Fever" and fans will "Fall" for any new platters!

Supersuckers - The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World

The Supersuckers formed in 1988 as The Black Supersuckers in Tucson, AZ. The original line-up was Eddie Spaghetti on bass, Dan "Thunder" Bolton and Rontrose Heathman on guitars, Dancing Eagle on drums, and Eric Martin as the lead singer. In 1989, they moved to Seattle, WA. Here, Eric Martin left the band. The song "Marie" was allegedly dedicated to Martin's mother after his death. The remaining members decided to continue as a four piece with Eddie Spaghetti taking over the vocalist role. They recorded numerous singles for various small labels before being signed to Sub Pop. A sampling of these are collected on the 1992 release The Songs All Sound the Same. Their first album with Sub Pop, The Smoke of Hell, was released in 1992.
In 1995, guitarist Rontrose Heathman temporarily left the band. He was replaced by Rick Sims of the band the Didjits for the recording of their third album, The Sacrilicious Sounds of the Supersuckers, and the subsequent tour. He returned for the recording of their fourth album, Must've Been High, which, as their first country album, was a major turning point for the band. Their fifth and final album with Sub-Pop was their greatest hits release, 1999's How the Supersuckers Became the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World. That same year they released their fifth studio album, The Evil Powers of Rock 'N' Roll.In 2001, the band formed their own record label, Mid-Fi Recordings. In addition to numerous singles and several live recordings, the band released their sixth studio album, Motherfuckers Be Trippin' on this label. As of May 2005, their most recent release is the singles collection Devil's Food. On tour, the Supersuckers always close their show with a "fake encore," where the band and the audience go through a 15 second pretend exit and stage entrance.

Speedbuggy - Hardcore Honkey Tonk

Featuring ex-NOFX guitarist Steve Kidwilder, bassist Brady Sloan, and Pat Munzingo, Speedbuggy plays a wild blend of country-fried power-pop. Keeping the down home lyrics prevalent in country music, as well as the hooks and energy common in power-pop, their 'hardcore honkey tonk' validates the cross genre statement, cow-punk. With a bass line harder than a horse's kick in the groan, "Low Down On The Low Down" begins the CD. Then, when the vocals enter in, the song quickly shows its country roots. The rodeo drumming prances around like a stampede of horses on the range, while the guitar powers through the drunken alt-country riffs that put the kick back into the whiskey. From this point on, there is no stopping them. Too wild and tempting to ignore, while maintaining an energetic, infectious core that will never leave you, their music is as intoxicating as the alcohol they downed while recording this piece of work.
"Country Song" finds the band sitting back and relying on a lot more country than power-pop. That is, until the end. The song starts off soft, but heavy, with country-soaked beats transcending from every speaker. A stereotypical country song about being broke and losing your love, at points you can't tell if they're playing up the stereotype or if they're serious. Then the song jumps into overdrive, as it soon transforms into a country-punk whirlwind of stunning drums, beefy bass lines, and twangy speed-guitar riffs. The vocals always tingle like the country breeze in the morning, carrying over emotion, pride, and good ol' fun with every word. Paying homage to the legendary Hank Williams, "I Saw The Light" is a great cover that truly shows their appreciate for the king of country rock. High on a beer buzz, and cruising down the highway at 100mph, the song rips through power chord after power chord, mixed in with some country twang, while the rhythm section isn't afraid to beat the life out of their instruments. Hank Williams would be proud, that's for sure. As the ten track album rounds out with "Carbon (Never Let Her Go)," "Faye (Speak Softly)," and the final track, "Pinche Fandango," the band winds down the twenty-eight minute disc with more soaking wet, punchy cow-punk sure to give you a whiskey high just by listening to it. "You can take the punk out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the punk," states Speedbuggy's bio sheet. This couldn't be more accurate. Proving this statement on their disc, with it's release the cow-punk community will never be the same. I'll give this disc a B+.

D.I. - State of Shock (Reissue with Bonus tracks)

D.I. (frequently written as xDxIx[who?]) is a Southern California punk band featuring ex-Adolescents and Social Distortion drummer Casey Royer on vocals. Royer formed the group after he and former Social Distortion original member Rikk Agnew, left the original Mike Ness crew.
Since forming in 1982, D.I. has had many line-up changes and Royer has been the only constant member of the band. The band once broke up and reformed, sometimes with former members of The Adolescents and Social Distortion (including the Angew brothers Rikk and Alfie). During their years of touring and recording albums, D.I. never gained a large mainstream success, but they have influenced many of today's later punk groups, including F.T.E., Face to Face, Guttermouth, Jughead's Revenge, The Offspring and Pennywise.
Much as southern California peers Bad Religion re-formed after an extended break and produced an excellent comeback LP, State of Shock was D.I.'s first album of new material in five years when it was originally issued in 1994, and it confounds the stereotypes of such re-formations by sounding authentic and energetic while featuring some of the best material the band has released. In particular, "Paranoid's Demise" and "Dream" are excellent mix-tape fodder, standing out because of melodic invention and Casey Royer's strong lyrics. The 2002 Cleopatra reissue includes four bonus tracks whose sound quality is noticeably diminished, but not horribly so.

Consumed - Hit for Six

Hailing from Sherwood Forest, located in Nottinghamshire, England, the Robin Hood loving foursome known as Consumed blast out pop-punk nuggets boosted with rocket fuel and plenty of venom. On their debut full-length, the band fits in perfectly with the Fat roster, serving up typical pop-punk with a razor sharp twist. It's true, Consumed embraces the typical, beat to death pop-punk sound commonly referred to as skate punk or hardcore pop-punk. And, though the songs suffer from the plague, typically referred to as the 'Fat Sound,' referring to the band's label, Fat Wreck Chords, the band still has some ass-kicking beats to make you sit up and listen. Songs like "Twat Called Maurice" "Wake Up With A Smile," and "King Kong Song" all find the band at the top of their game, churning out loud, abrasive, hard-hitting melodic punk with hardcore rearing its face now and then. It's songs like these, and the power they possess, that help make the band more than your run-of-the-mill pop-punk act. As a whole, the album is a decent, already-been-done collection of sound-alike pop-punk tunes. But, taken apart, each song has enough engine thrust to kick some ass. The whole is not greater than the sum of all its parts, so don't expect much. And, if you don't expect much, what is here will give you something to punk out too. I'll give it a C.

Cell Block 5 - Push It!

Cell Block 5 was founded in 1999 by guitarist/singer Dave Dalton, formerly of the Screaming Bloody Marys. Recording their first album the same year, the group began a grueling regiment of playing shows that found them performing with some of the biggest names in the underground punk scene. Along with Dalton, the lineup also includes guitarist John Fortin, bassist Shawn Noon, and drummer Jared Gardener. In 2000 they released their second album, Push It, on Industrial Strength Records. The album included songs written with members of the Dwarves and Pansy Division and featured former Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray on a track. As of 2001 they continue to tour the country and release new songs on independent punk compilations.

V.A. - Rock 'n' Roll Au-Go-Go Vol. 5

The New Rock revolution marches into it's fifth installment of the Rock 'n' Roll Au-Go-Go series. As the alternative poop zombies lurch around in their baggy pants and brainless trends, we, the Rock 'n' Rollers shall kick their ass, steal their cute little girlfriends, and bypass their major label brainwashing to keep the torch burning for real rock 'n' roll hootin' and hollerin'. We got some real hell raisin bands on this volume and without further ado here they are;

the QUADRAJETS - Alabama's favorite sons have been tearin' up the South and the rest of the world for a long time new and their list of records is long and essential to every record collection. Their excitement is beyond catchy and it doesn't take you long to start jumping around with em'. Great guitar chops and powerful bursts of energy are all over this bands sound and fury and RNRAGG has it captured right here.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CRIME KAISERS - Germany's punk rock n' roller bands are few and far between, but the Crime Kaisers are the king of rock/punk there. With their great arrangements and cool songs the Kaiser's can hold up very well againts anything thrown their way. After a string of great singles and comp tracks, the world is waiting for a rip roaring album from them and when it comes, expect another wall to crumbling down.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
JACK SAINTS - The wild monster maniacs from Northern California. These guys never let up with their trademark raw punk n' roll bestiallty (with a cool horror fan website to match). Power chords, blasting riffs, pounding skins and thundering strings have you smelling the ozone melt when their lightning hits!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
PANADOLLS - In the fine tradition of Radio Birdman, Celibate Rifles, and so on come the solid hard rock sound of Australia's Panadolls. You can hear the beer brewing and the action flowing in their straight ahead rock power. Another good reason to get on a plane and take a bar hopping tour of Australia to catch a surely great band live!

Asexuals - Greater Than Later...

The punk rock band known as the Asexuals was formed in 1983 in Montreal, Canada. Guitarist Sean Friesen, bassist T. J. Collins, and drummer Paul Remington were all members of the group. A number of talented bassists served time with them off and on along the way, including Domenic Pompeio, John Kastner, Blake Cheetah, and Yuri Mohacsi. In 1984, the Asexuals released a debut single and a debut album, Be What You Want, to a growing fan base that was waiting for more. The recordings received good reviews, but didn't capture the band at its very best, which happened to be on-stage before an energized audience. Over the next few years the group toured Canada and Europe, opening for major crowd-draws like P.I.L. and DOA. The Asexuals also completed a number of other albums after that debut. The last, Fitsjoy, was released under the Cargo Records label in 1997. Some of the hardcore attitude and pop-mixed punk tunes by the band are "Time Will Tell," "Throw Me a Line," "World for the Taking," and "Language of Men."
