THE JAM: Snap! (1983)

Snap! collects all of the Jam's singles, from "In the City" to "Beat Surrender," including several B-sides ("'A' Bomb in Wardour Street," "Dreams of Children") and a handful of rarities, like a demo of "That's Entertainment" and the rock version of "Smithers-Jones." For its compact-disc release, several songs were trimmed, but Snap! remains a brilliant summation of why the Jam were one of the most important and beloved British bands of their era. The latter-day collection Greatest Hits covers much the same ground as Snap!, but the earlier compilation remains preferable because of sequencing and its inclusion of essential items like "'A' Bomb in Wardour Street" and "Dreams of Children."by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Tracks: in the city / all around the world / the modern world / news of the world / david watts / a bomb in wardour street / down in the tube station at midnight / strange town / when you're young / smither-jones / the eton rifles / going underground / dreams of children / that's entertainment / start! / funeral pyre / absolute beginners / town called malice / precious / the bitterest / beat surrender

OI!

YOU ARE BUSY THIS DAY, MATE!

And quite different in style also.

Do you have requests yourself maybe? After all everybody can help to promote the music the radio seems to be forgotten...

By the way: you said the first album of Splodge was promoted by you on the net once. Not there anymore, mate. That's sad because my LP is a mess after all these years but that's also fun because it brings back the memories!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
